Namaste

Today I am thankful for my body. While far from "perfect" (at least the way the world sells the idea of perfection), I am constantly amazed at this miraculous gift. Think about it:

  • What other "machine" can fix itself?
  • Consider how vastly complex the functions of the body are, and how little we have to consider them to go about our day.
  • It has the power to grow people. PEOPLE! While I'm in no rush to get pregnant again, I still marvel at the amazing ability the woman's body has to grow life.
  • It can be reshaped, reconnected, and restored. More so than pregnancy or the actual birthing process, I've had a hard time accepting this now changed body. And while it may never be the same (for better and worse), today during my yoga practice I could feel myself getting stronger. Love those days.
  • The body allows us to experience: to taste, smell, touch, hear, feel, and see the beauties of life.
Of course, I have to recognize the people I know who are struggling with their bodies right now. Whether fighting disease, overcoming injury, or adapting to the various challenges their body has to deal with there are definitely days where it is easy to feel frustrated, angry, or heartbroken because of the physical. And yet, despite those challenges this body was one of the reasons we came to this earth. This body is a step in our progression, and after this life we are given a great gift of keeping this then-perfect body.

So a big "thanks" to my body for putting up with me--during good habits as well as some not-so-good. And an even bigger "thank you" to my Heavenly Father for this amazing gift.

"It has the power to grow people!" That's my favorite line. And yes, love this body, no matter what life keeps giving me. I am grateful that through it all, my body has survived and not just that, but recovered. May I also say that there is nothing like the day after you are through recovery, through lots of rest, through the aches and pains, when you feel, as though for the first time, energy surging and suddenly you are singing and dancing. That sure feels great.
