My year as a full time professor has proved quite interesting. On the one hand, I really enjoyed being in just one place, having an office to myself, better pay/benefits, etc. However, on the other hand, I wasn't teaching as much and I missed being with the students. I also hated faculty meetings (AKA: Death), and my office was nothing more than a brick box with no sunshine. There is still a lot of uncertainty as to what I will be doing in the Fall, but I can honestly say that if I go back to adjunct status at both BYU and UVU; it will not be the end of the world.
In the meantime, I'm excited to enjoy this summer. Being full time means that I get paid this summer (I don't have to find a summer job)! Wahoo! I've been working on a business plan with Tom (more on him in a minute) to start building my dream job. Ultimately, it's a wellness center where people can come and take yoga, pilates, dance, movement fundamentals. I would also work with clients one-on-one as a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (yes, that's me). We will also offer workshops to promote healthy living, help with back pain, core support, etc. It's nice to have someone with the business savvy to help me in the process. So for anyone who may be interested in taking adult dance classes or who just want to feel more alive and connected to their bodies, hold on tight! There are opportunities coming. :)
In other news: I am still dating Tom, and it's going really well. He's from Chicago. He went to school there and graduated with a degree in speech and communication. He came out here randomly to start his own real estate investing business. He's a total goofball, so we get along in that sense. My family loves him (probably more than they love me). So we'll see where this takes us. We're having a great time, and I'm really lucky to have someone so great in my life.

If anyone out there in blogger land wants to meet up for lunch sometime, this would be the next few months to do it. I am teaching a few weeks in May and June at BYU, doing a workshop possibly in Chicago (and meeting Tom's family while we're there), performing a little (for all you Murray folks, stay tuned, they are putting on a dance concert featuring Murray Alumni), and playing a lot. It will be a welcome break.

Hi Robin!
Tom looks cute and fun! Way to go on working for your dream job. I wish I lived in Utah so I could take one of your classes. One day. Sigh.
Love your guts!
you are tooo cute!! i'm so glad you FINALLY posted a pic!! happy thoughts!!
Yay for a new post! One day I want you to teach me! (Somehow, my one and only dance class from Miss Lloyd didn't quite fill that void in my life...)
When I get to town..let's do lunch! It's been 5 years at least!
What?! You mean you didn't find your dancing soul with Ms. Lloyd? Odd. You know what else is odd? Ms. Lloyd called me this past week. Weird.
When are you coming to town? I would love to see you!
Yay! Robin is alive! The wellness center sounds cool. My dream will probably be awhile.
hey robi, i'll be in utah the first week of july. hope we can get together then :)
So I think i'm the only boring one that still lives in the SL valley and could actually attend one of your dance classes -- and don't you think i won't! But, it will have to wait til after i have a child and can move again. PS- Tom looks cute and i think we should definitley do lunch. Fridays or saturdays are best for me until June (when school's out), but we'll be in touch.
tom looks like a cutie! how are you? now that your life will be calming down a smidge for the summer...can we please get together and have lunch with becky? please? great! oh, and i cannot wait for the murray high alum dance concert...
hey robin...
so last night i watched part of "so you think you can dance" and now i'm wondering...am i going to see you on the salt lake auditions next week? :) by the way, did you hear that my little sister made drill team for next year at mhs?
I didn't audition for sytycd. I was going to, but then they changed the auditions to Feb in the FREEZING cold and I had classes to teach. But I'm excited to watch it because I know people who will be on tv!
Hooray for your sister. Tell here that the nightmares will continue to haunt her for years. I still have bad dreams about drill team... STILL. (the horror)
AKA:Death made me laugh right out loud. Sigh, I miss your face! Incidentally, your face looks really good next to Tom's face. I think I'm with your family in loving him more than you. Just kidding, peyt.
Hey, I hope you had a nice birthday yesterday. I thought of you, my fellow May baby.
I'm planning on a trip to SLC in July, hope you are a around then so we can get together.
